Description
Help the Veteran and Military Family Center recognize retired
Navy Captain Phil Bucklew, a 1936 graduate of Xavier University and known as
the father of the Navy SEALs.
Eighty years ago, Bucklew had recently completed a
harrowing reconnaissance mission off the coast of Normandy, France and was
preparing for the upcoming D-Day invasion where he would later earn his second
Navy Cross.
On June 6, of this year we will celebrate CAPT Bucklew on
the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by renaming our Veteran
and Military Family Center in his honor and we need your help to get this done!
Donations are applied to...
The Veteran and
Military Family Center relies upon donors like you to support our nearly 400 Veterans, Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve and Military Dependent students leading to Xavier being recognized once again by Military
Friendly® as a Top 10 Gold Institution for 2023-24 and the #2 Private PhD
granting institution in the nation! Our goal of 250 donors represents a minimum
of $2,750 (including the $1,500 match) and would help ensure the continuation
of services and support that enhances every Veteran and Military-Affiliated
Student’s ability to be successful in the pursuit of their academic and
professional goals.
Why are donations necessary?
We are required to raise funds to support the majority of the programs and services offered by the Veteran and Military family Center.
Every dollar raised goes to support our students who are Veterans, Active Duty, National
Guard and Reserve Service members and their families here at Xavier.
