Description
The McCormick Brothers Endowed
Memorial Fund has changed lives and personifies Xavier's mission of rigorously
preparing new generations of Men and Women for Others.
Who Does the fund help?
The Fund helps current
Xavier undergraduate students who find themselves in short-term financial
distress, stay in school and earn their Xavier degree.
Thanks to many generous
friends, family and business associates, the Fund has helped over 100 students!
The McCormick Brothers
The Fund became the legacy
of two incredible Irishmen, brothers, who simply wanted to help kids achieve
their educational goals despite their lack of resources, despite family
dynamics, despite the greatest of challenges that face young college students
with an uncertain economic future. The Fund began in 2008 after the passing of
Brian, and grew much larger after the passing of his older brother, Matt.
Brian D.
McCormick, XU ’97 [March 21, 1975 - April 9, 2008]. After graduating from
Xavier with a degree in Advertising, Brian became a Manufacturer’s
Representative for over 20 toy lines and sold to the largest retail stores in
America.
Matthew D.
McCormick, XU ’92, ’95 [March 29, 1970 - September 4, 2014]. Matt graduated
with a degree in Finance and Economics and earned his MBA with a concentration
in Marketing. He was a Principal and Portfolio Manager for Bahl & Gaynor
Investment Counsel. He travelled frequently and was often featured in the
national media on Fox Business News, Bloomberg, MSNBC as well as the Wall
Street Journal and many more.
“Da Brothers” as
they were often called, both born in March, fully embraced their Irish heritage
with unbridled enthusiasm on St. Patrick’s Day, but truly all year round. It is
appropriate to celebrate Xavier’s March Gladness giving campaign in the spirit
of Matt and Brian. Wherever you find yourself this March 17th, raise a pint of
Guinness in honor of “Da Brothers”.
The Fund has
exceeded Matt’s and Brian’s dream, and those of struggling college students and
embodies Xavier's Jesuit Catholic identity and mission of rigorously preparing
new generations of Men and Women for Others.
Thank you!
If you’d like to help a student achieve their
dreams, long term goals and earn their college degree, please thoughtfully
consider donating today. Every gift is welcome, appreciated and tax deductible.
With gratitude,
Susan N. McCormick

“This is the beginning
of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it
or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a
day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in
its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good.” -
