Who are the friends of 938 Dana?
938 Dana is a house near
Xavier University. What started with 13 undergrads in the class of 2003 grew
into friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Beyond that, the university
instilled in them a commitment to give back; to provide future students with an
opportunity to pursue their own Xavier journey.
The Friends of 938 now
extends beyond that house; it includes their fellow alums, family and the
greater community.
Scholarship Details
The scholarship is to be
awarded to a full-time, undergraduate student, whose EFC (estimated family
contribution) is above Pell Grant eligibility but below $30,000 (can change
with market adjustments in the future). First generation students and/or
students of marginalized communities may be given priority. Eligible students
also should not have received the following Xavier awards: Community Engaged
Fellowship or St. Francis Xavier Scholarship (or equivalent full-tuition
institutional aid awards in the future). In addition, eligibility can be
determined by the Office of Student Financial Services based on the student's
financial need and any student’s special financial circumstances that arise.
Why a ‘Friends of 938’ Scholarship?
Based on that commitment,
these graduates decided to give something back to the university community.
Their intent is to make this kind of transformational college experience more
widely available to others who are in the greatest need. Their hope is that the
scholarship will give the recipients time to succeed in their classes, engage
with student organizations and communities beyond campus, and, above all, build
the friendships that are surely amongst the most important things one can take
away from college without the financial burden.
Thank you for your support!
