In Honor of Brigid Kelly
Brigid Kelly (Business and Entrepreneurship, ’05) led a life of public service, as a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives and Norwood City Council, and as Hamilton County Auditor. She championed causes like affordable healthcare, paid sick and family leave, women’s rights, and workers’ safety and equity.
Brigid passed away on March 26, 2024 after a two-year battle with cancer. It is a testament to the respect that she enjoyed throughout the state that politicians from both sides of the aisle and Governor Mike DeWine paid tribute to her by ordering flags to be lowered to honor her life and legacy.
She was a mentor to countless Xavier students as they pursued opportunities to develop into leaders in their communities. Brigid mentored Xavier students who served on her campaigns, worked with her professionally, and benefited from her generosity and friendship. She provided particular support to students in the Philosophy, Politics, and the Public Honors program, both during their time at Xavier and in the professional lives.
The Brigid Kelly Public Service Scholarship supports students who demonstrate promise as a future public leader based on their academic record and history of campus and community engagement. By giving to this scholarship, you will help to ensure that Brigid’s legacy lives on by developing a new generation of leaders who share her commitment to service and community.
